The School is committed to ensuring the safety, welfare and wellbeing of all children and young people at the School.
We are dedicated to protecting them from abuse and grooming by implementing robust policies and procedures to deter this and facilitate detection and reporting at the School.听
At St Stephen鈥檚 School we have zero tolerance for child abuse and grooming. The School regards its child protection responsibilities with the utmost importance and as such is committed to providing the necessary resources to ensure compliance with all relevant child protection laws and regulations and to maintain safe and supportive School physical and online environments for all children and young people.听
St Stephen鈥檚 School follows the 10 National Principles for being a Child Safe Organisation below:听
- Child safety and wellbeing is embedded in organisational leadership, governance and culture.听
- Children and young people are informed about their rights, participate in decisions affecting them and are taken seriously.听
- Families and communities are informed and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing.听
- Equity is upheld and diverse needs respected in policy and practice.听

- Processes to respond to complaints and concerns are child focused, easily accessible and used by children, young people and whole School community.听

- Physical and online environments promote safety and wellbeing while minimising the opportunity for children and young people to be harmed.听

Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum
St Stephen鈥檚 School delivers the 鈥淭he Keeping Safe: Child Protection Curriculum鈥� child safety program for children and young people from the age of three to Year 12.听
The鈥痑im鈥痮f this curriculum is to teach all children from a young age, in an age-appropriate way, to:听
- Recognise abuse and tell a trusted adult about it听
- Understand what is appropriate and inappropriate touching听
- Understand ways of keeping themselves safe听

- We can help ourselves to be safe by talking to people we trust听

Child Safeguarding: who to speak to if you have a concern
All child safety incidents or concerns should be reported to the Head of Campus or Principal. These reports are treated confidentially.听
St Stephen鈥檚 School has also appointed a number of Child Safety Officers who are able to advise and assist in situations involving child safety incidents or concerns.听
